My last journal entry as the person that got me all those wonderful friends and watchers was before college, infact it was talking about how I got accepted and how excited I was.
College didn't exactly go smoothly for me, infact although I met some truly amazing people at college the work got to me, and for the first time I seriously hated art and wanted to stop.
I changed a lot and so did my artwork, it's been too long since I picked up my faber castell's and drew a wolf or a dragon. Whether I was bored of the same old thing or college depressed me enough to stop wanting to I don't know but I just felt at a divide from the persona I'd made on this site.
The summer of 2014 I stopped drawing altogether after the final project of college had ended disastrously. Truth be told my work was always good, but I could never get it in on time, which meant no matter how well I did it would never matter because I'd fail a project anyway.
Maybe it was the prospect of taking art into a career that made me hate it, I'm not too sure anymore. But if I got an artistic job, speed is the first skill you need and time keeping is the second. I had neither skills.
When I stopped drawing I spent a lot of time on minecraft with my internet friends and ignored the outside world and the friends I made in college.
Minecraft satisfied my creativity enough, but I always felt kinda empty for not actually doing anything productive. I was in a depressive slump most days, not really sure where to place myself; I'd sleep away the time or just watch whatever was on the tv, which was usually nothing interesting.
When I finally tried to draw again, I started to really hone in on practicing anime, and I started enjoying drawing again. I worked a lot on a game with friends or drew my characters. I'd actually changed art styles a lot over the two years of college but I'd started to find one I liked. I still worried a lot about DA. I kinda figured the people here liked me for my wolves and dragons and the anime art was a massive disconnect from that.
When I started my university course in september, I really got into the 'fuck you too, then' approach to my drawings. Instead of worrying about people liking my anime style, I just used it anyway. I drew the odd creature or animal in my good ol' semi realism style, but I started focusing more on trying to harmonise the two instead of trying to trying to make my anime art more realistic (which I did NOT enjoy doing).
I also practiced digital art way more, focusing on colour and photoshop so I could get better at stuff I used to otherwise kinda avoid.
I wouldn't say I'm completely better, or that I completely enjoy drawing again, but I'm getting there.
Deviantart is still a little bit of a weird place for me. I'm not really sure where to put myself here, but I try to post finished drawings, personal favourites or work that I think still have at least a hint of Savamther in it.
Instagram is where I update most frequently to, as it is my portable sketch dump of all things anime (and sometimes a little dragony too)
Tumblr is mostly where I collect references I want to use but also serves as a less-used sketchdump and artdump.
I also have a facebook page but it is empty as I am hungry right now.
There's links to all of these sites in my description. Maybe I'll see some of you around there uvu or maybe not.
